Barry Bruder, Ms.T, CLP, has been studying the healing arts for over 30 years, integrating this knowledge to create his own unique approach to healing called Bodywurx, a synthesis of LENS – Low Energy Neurofeedback System, deep-tissue bodywork, emotional release, energy medicine and a deeper look into unhelpful patterns of holding in the physical, emotional, mental and psychic bodies. This body-mind approach helps individuals to give themselves permission to bring about resolution to some of their unresolved issues and unfinished business. In his private practice in Temecula near San Diego and on the west side of Los Angeles, he works with people afflicted with chronic illnesses, anxiety disorders and other debilitating conditions, utilizing his knowledge and experience to help release the deep emotional scars created by trauma, severe pain and anger. Barry also teaches “crisis management communication skills” or empathic listening.
His work with children as a counselor at Dream Street, an L.A. based summer camp for critically ill children, caught the attention of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a world-renowned psychiatrist and author, during her visit to Los Angeles in 1993. Touched by his work, Dr. Kubler-Ross personally invited Barry to study with her. From 1993 to 1995, he traveled from L.A. to her healing center in Virginia, immersing himself in her grieving and healing process.Barry’s experiences at Dream Street inspired him to create and co-found The Safe Place for Pediatric AIDS, a nonprofit organization serving infected and affected children in central and south central Los Angeles. He also served on the board of directors for the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation, an organization which provides financial assistance to single parents of terminally ill children, enabling the parent to spend more time with the child until the time of the child’s passing.
In 1997, he co-founded the Clear Path Workshops, focusing on creating safe places for people throughout the United States to externalize repressed emotions caused by trauma or loss. Clear Path facilitated workshops in Virginia, Maine and Los Angeles several times a year. In the spring of 2000, Barry had the unique privilege of training with a Maori medicine man, a spiritual leader and healer of the indigenous people of New Zealand. Barry currently leads a non-profit organization for individuals transitioning in recovery – Clear Path Addiction Care. His meditation CD series supports individuals dedicated to the continuation of their healing process.
